New Requirements for Tax Return Preparers
In tax year 2010, the IRS will begin implementing new regulations for paid tax return preparers. The rules will require all paid preparers to register with the IRS, pass testing, complete continuing education and e-file if filing more than 100 individual federal returns. Form 8633: Request to Participate in IRS E-file
An EFIN is required to electronically file using TaxACT Preparer's 1040 Edition. If you don't already have your EFIN, you must file for one now. For more information, see the IRS e-file site.
